Up, up and away.

The ferry arrives at Lochranza and we travel east.
They say that, when you’re over the hill you pick up speed. But, once we were over the hill the weather improved. Arrival in Lochranza on the west coast of Arran is decidedly wet and gloomy. The visit to Lochranza distillery puts us in better spirits, reflected in improved weather as we head east. We have not yet seen Arran from all sides, but what we see so far is inviting.
Towards the east side of Arran

A chance encounter

Near a lovely burn there I spot a lady grooming her two West Highland White terriers, or Westies as they are also known. There was a time when it was my big wish to own a westy. Now I just said hello to these two cute little guys.

And this is what it looked like on the east side of the island.

East to West
You know what they say in Scotland, if you don’t like the weather: wait ten minutes. Besides that, there is never any lack of drama in Scotland anyway. So, after yet another one track drive, and a stop for tea, we were back at the west side looking towards the mainland.

Waiting for the ferry to arrive, which was the last one of the day to leave. It had only us and one other car on it.

Looking back towards Arran
Back on the mainland the sun came out and gave us some glorious views.
