Right on our doorstep

Really, there is no need to travel to all those wonderful places around Braemar. This afternoon we start walking right from our own doorstep. We are walking up Creag Choinnich, in Braemar a small, but pretty steep hill.

The views over Braemar on one side, and the Invercauld estate on the other are stunning. The heather is just starting to bloom.I am imagining what it will look like when it blazes full purple. The walk up Creag Choinnich itself is just over a mile and a half.

We take a slight detour coming back. It is simultaneously relaxing and exhilarating to walk among the heather and the bracken. We alternate feasting our eyes on the views and watching our feet on the rather sharp declines. Feeling on top of the world every step of the way.
